Record Cabinet - Trash to Treasure

Literally. But first, where has the time gone? I have been busy working on projects, and busy procrastinating as well. Far too much time has passed since my last post. The end of summer and the return to school seem to have gotten the better of me.

So, I will start back up with this little gem.  I saved this little record cabinet from a street corner. He was all wet from the rain the night before, but I turned around and grabbed him from the curb on my way to work this fall.

I considered this a practice piece as I wanted to try Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Arles and Graphite. Additionally, I wanted to try a dark wax glaze over the Graphite instead of applying dark wax directly. The drawer pulls are original, but the door pulls came from antique sewing cabinet. Both were painted matte black.

Before - pretty dirty, rough and missing hardware

Love the Arles!
Both clear and dark wax were applied to the drawer.
Look at the difference - the corner piece  and door are painted only.

The dark wax adds much needed dimension and character.

Thanks for visiting!
